Program

The New Hope Act, passed by the state legislature in mid-2019, expanded the list of felonies and misdemeanors eligible for vacation. With the WACDL Criminal Records and Restoration of Rights Committee, Vitaliy Kertchen helped review and draft language for the bill, and he is currently serving clients seeking to vacate records under the new law. Learn what’s eligible and how to quickly and effectively navigate the process.

The Clean Slate Act, a follow-up bill to create a pilot exploring automatic vacation of some of these records, was vetoed this year due to budget constraints.
