This CLE is intended as a refresher regarding the issuance, modification, and termination of civil protection orders in the context of RCW 7.105, Washington's new all-inclusive chapter for protection orders. The changes are not merely in codification. There are significant substantive changes regarding procedure, standards for issuance, definitions, and even the forms used. Collateral consequences such as firearm rights will also be discussed, along with the impact of case law on defending protection order cases when there are parallel pending criminal charges.
