Associate Attorney
Pimentel & Associates is a private firm that handles a mix of court-appointed cases and has a contract with the county to handle all levels of felonies, including murder cases.
Responsibilities include:
- Acting as court-appointed and privately retained counsel representing individuals accused of misdemeanors or felonies in superior and district courts.
- Representing appointed and privately retained clients in all phases of criminal proceedings, including arraignment, pretrial hearings, trial preparation, plea negotiations, trial, and sentencing.
- Being responsible for the investigation and preparation of each assigned case.
- Handling a primary caseload consisting of misdemeanors, with the possibility of being assigned felony cases based on experience.
- Assist management and other staff as directed and comply with legal standards and requirements.
The candidate will work on Class A felony cases from the outset, including murder and other Class A felonies. They may also be utilized as a second seat on Class A felony trials. Additionally, the candidate will be trained in analyzing cases to determine the proper approach and trial strategy, as trials are integral to this practice.
Securing private clients can be challenging, especially when the client has contacted multiple law firms. The candidate will be trained in securing private clients and performing the difficult task of explaining the fee structure to the client and confidently requesting fees, which can sometimes be overwhelming to the average client.
