Amy Hirotaka, Executive Director

As WACDL’s chief staff executive, Amy is responsible for working with the board to set and implement association goals, fiscal management, CLE and other program development, designing and developing member services, hiring and supervising staff and contractors, and overall management of the association.

She serves as staff for WACDL’s Board of Governors; for the Annual Conference, CLE, Corrections, and Legislative committees; and for the Sealing & Vacation Task Force. With Bailey Richardson, she serves as staff for the Holiday Party and Email Lists Oversight committees. In addition, she serves as editor of Washington Criminal Defense magazine. email

Amy worked as WACDL's program coordinator between January of 2006 and August of 2008. Since then, she attended graduate school and earned a master’s degree in public administration. Her work since graduate school has involved lobbying, policy analysis, community outreach and engagement, and event planning. She has served on the board of the Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation and been chair of the City of Seattle Community Technology Advisory Board.

Fred Rice, Program Coordinator

Fred is responsible for desktop publishing, bookkeeping and is the first person we go to when dealing with technology issues. He also serves as staff for Court Rules, Judicial and Prosecutorial Conduct, Public Defense and the Mass Incarceration Project Committees. Fred began working for WACDL in fall of 2007.
